Born in New Orleans on August 4, 1901, Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong came to embody the spirit and music of New Orleans to millions of fans of jazz and the Big Easy.
Now those fans gather to celebrate New Orleans and Louis Armstrong at the annual Satchmo Summerfest, occurring this year August 5-8, 2010. Now in its tenth year, this free community festival features seminars, exhibits, and of course lots of live jazz. This French Quarter Street Festival is sure to bring out the best New Orleans has to offer, including three stages of music, dance lessons from NOLA Jitterbugs and a parade. Come celebrate Jazz, Satchmo, and the culture of New Orleans, and make your weekend complete with a stay at a New Orleans Bed and Breakfast Inn.
