If you’re visiting New Orleans at the end of July, be sure to check out the 10th Annual Tales of the Cocktail hosted throughout the French Quarter. This is not your ordinary “mixed drink” fest. Instead, think of the world’s best cocktail professionals gathering among fans and aspiring mixologists to teach, celebrate and drink the classic combinations and newest innovations. Book a room at one of the nearby New Orleans bed & breakfasts and you’ll be right at the center of this mecca of mixology.
With over 200 events over five days, this is the world’s premier cocktail festival. There are competitions, demonstrations and plenty of opportunities to taste, socialize and learn. The informative and delicious “Spirited Lunches and Dinners” Series cover a wide range of topics by distinguished speakers over a delicious multi-course meal.
There are 60 Seminars offered this year. You can get the how-to on opening your own bar, discover the brews of India, learn to talk tequila (scientifically!), and… really, there are so many topics covered, you should check out the full list.
The various Excursions are a fun way to get out and expand your horizons. Eat your way along an Urban Farm tour, get on two wheels and join the Confederacy of Cruisers bike tour, or make your way to the front steps of Hotel Monteleone and famous burlesque dancer, GiO, will teach you “How to Strip for Your Man.” Yes indeed, there’s so much to learn at Tales of the Cocktail 2012!
The Spirited Awards Ceremony is on Saturday, July 2, from 8 to 11:30 pm. Dress up, eat, drink and find out who’s considered 2012’s best of the best in the cocktail world.
While all the packages are gone, individual tickets are still available. The purchase of any ticket gives you complimentary access to the Tales of the Cocktail Tasting Rooms. For tickets and the full schedule of events, visit TalesoftheCocktail.com. Most 2012 Tales of the Cocktail events will be held at Hotel Monteleone or the Royal Sonestra Hotel, but be sure to check the website for details.
Don’t have a ticket? There are also a number of complimentary events such as the very popular Pig & Punch party in Washington Square Park.
Many of our New Orleans Bed & Breakfast Inns are close to the action in and around the French Quarter. There’s still time to book your B&B accommodations and enjoy the finest New Orleans hospitality while experiencing all the exciting Tales of the Cocktail events.
