The Cutting Edge NewWorks Showcases are among the many educational and networking opportunities for entertainment professionals and aspiring artists at Cutting Edge C.E. in New Orleans.

Since 1993, the annual Cutting Edge Conference has brought together thousands of established and aspiring musicians and music professionals to network and share ideas. Lectures, demonstrations and panel discussions cover the latest topics and business trends of the music industry and film/interactive media. Overall, this action- and information-packed entertainment industry conference is broken down into five main areas:

Music Business: This is the main focus of the conference overall. Pros and aspiring musicians alike benefit from lectures, demos and other events exploring all things “music business:” equipment, booking & touring tips, critiques, social media marketing and more. Click here for current schedule.

Continuing Legal Education: These seminars focus on media legal issues, from royalty fee disputes to contract negotiation. The sticky legal side of things has long been an important topic for artists; it’s even more important with today’s media. Click for current schedule.

Cutting Edge Film Workshop: For both professional and aspiring filmmakers, this symposium covers both legal and craft aspects of filmmaking.

Roots Music Gathering: Join in discussions, master classes and lectures on the roots musical tradition. It’s also a great opportunity to hear oral histories and live performances by legendary roots musicians.

NewWorks Showcase: It couldn’t be a complete music business event without some live music! Throughout the five-day event, the NewWorks Showcases will take place in the evening at nightclubs and other New Orleans venues. Aspiring artists have a great chance to perform and network.

Most of the conference will take place at Gallier Hall (545 Saint Charles Ave.) and Lafayette Square just east of Gallier Hall. Some events are open to the public, while others require registration. For more information and the full schedule, visit
