New Orleans’ French connections are never too far from the surface, so it makes sense that there are numerous New Orleans Bastille Day celebrations and traditions – some more serious than others!

For those not familiar with this holiday, Bastille Day is not unlike our own 4th of July: a celebration of liberty.

The Bastille was a prison fortress in Paris that was stormed by over 8,000 French citizens on July 14th, 1789, kicking off the French Revolution. Their goal was the release of hundreds of political prisoners – plus the attainment of arms stored therein.
