Ursuline Guest House
"Your Home in the Heart of the French Quarter!" Staying at the Ursuline Guest House is more like a visit to the family home, staying with that crazy, old aunt who loves life and the joys it brings. French Quarter life is right outside your door — the enticing, exciting nightlife of New Orleans; the unique daytime shopping at art galleries and antique stores on Royal Street; the best Creole, Cajun, French and Italian restaurants — it’s all here — and the Ursuline Guest House is in the very heart of it all!
It is impossible to talk about the rooms of Ursuline Guest House without acknowledging the history of New Orleans. Just as the antiquity of New Orleans sits squarely in the center of this modern city, with an eclectic mix of old and new sharing the same space, so too do the rooms of the Ursuline Guest House. Our accommodations are steeped in the history of this region. For example, rooms 7 through 12 are the former slave quarters behind the main house, their history forever a part of the plaster and brick of the walls. You cannot help but imagine what life must have been like in the mid-1700’s, when Ursuline Guest House was, even then, a magnificent example of Creole culture. The French Quarter was a bustling hub of commerce, and the streets just outside the door were filled with sailors, pirates, French, Spanish, Quadroons, and Voodoo Queens!
The courtyard of each historic structure was the private recluse of the owners — a personal sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of this thriving, decadent city. The courtyard of Ursuline Guest House awaits you today, with the added benefits of a hot tub and our daily wine-and-cheese hour, further enhancing your relaxing escape.
We welcome you to the accommodations of the Ursuline Guest House! Indulge yourself in our modern comforts amid the history of an era when the New Orleans French Quarter was the shining, decadent Queen of the South.
